Eating Well for Less Money

node/%

As reported in February on Friendwich, rising food prices are here. The Seattle Post Intelligencer has a common-sense guide to how to save some money on your food bill.

The fastest tips to saving money are:

  • Buying whole chicken instead of the pre-cut parts.
  • Buy cuts of meat with the bone in when it's cheaper. Most would agree the taste of meat cooked on the bone is better.
  • Cut down on the alcohol purchases.
  • If you want to make a huge difference in your shopping bill, stop eating meat and replace it with rice, beans, cheeses and farmer's market veggies.  That's a pretty radical idea for some, but when times are tough, the tough will do what's gotta be done.

Please share your money-saving grocery tips by leaving comments or discussing it in the forums.
