Packaged and Whole Cantaloupe Recall

The FDA has published a number of recalls regarding cantaloupe sourced from Honduras and packaged/sold under a variety of brand names in a wide variety of regional products. There is a Samonella Litchfield outbreak associated with the products. It is important to note, the annoucements make it clear there have been no reported cases where a consumer has come down with the disease.

  • Whole cantaloupes marked as "product of Honduras" and shipped in Dole-branded, Chiquita, or "Mayan Pride" boxes.  Some will have "Mike's Melons" stickers applied to the cantaloupe. You would find these in the produce section of your grocer.  If in doubt, either call your grocer or return the cantaloupe.
  • Single melons packed under the "Perfect Melon" brand.
  • Three-melon sleeve pack under the "Chestnut Hill Farms" brand.
  • A wide variety of packaged fresh-fruit products from a couple of different brands in a couple of different regions. You would find these in the refrigerated section of your grocer and packaged as sliced fruit or sliced fruit packaged in syrup.

Here's a list of the announcements.
